The Restaurant
Restaurant: etch. is MasterChef: The Professionals winner Steven Edwards’ flagship restaurant located minutes away from the Sussex coast in Hove. etch. was refurbished in late 2021 adding a stunning new subterranean bar and open kitchen from where the chefs create and serve their simple sounding but inventive cuisine. Offering a 5, 7 or 9-course tasting menu, dishes are created using two main ingredients which showcase the fantastic produce provided by highly regarded suppliers. etch. currently holds a Michelin Plate, 6 Good Food Guide inclusions, 3 AA Rosettes and was ranked 58th best restaurant in the 2022 National Restaurant Awards.
The Chef
Steven is a British Chef best known for winning the 6th series of MasterChef: The Professionals in 2013 and becoming one of the youngest ever winners of the competition at the age of just 26. At the time Michelin starred chef and judge Michel Roux Junior. commented: "His food is lovely. He makes food that is great to eat, expertly cooked, presented with a certain elegance, clean lines, and it works — fault-free."
Prior to MasterChef: The Professionals, Steven trained with some of the country’s leading chefs before moving to Horsham in 2008 when he joined the brigade at South Lodge Hotel - a five star country house hotel in the heart of Sussex. He opened etch. in March 2017 and has been winning plaudits ever since.
The Prize
Seven course lunch or dinner in the restaurant’s private dining room and chefs table inspired by world renowned artist Magnus Gjoen. Suitable for up to 8 guests enjoy a 7 course meal with wine flight surrounded by fabulous art with your own private chef and waiter for the evening.
